Residency Certificate (SKTT)

If you are an expat with a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS), obtaining your official Indonesian Residency Certificate (SKTT) opens doors to critical services and rights. SKTT serves as your recognized ID across Indonesia, much like a local KTP card. It’s important to note that if you have a VOA or Visit Visa, it is not possible to obtain an SKTT.

With a SKTT in hand, you can finally purchase vehicles, register marriages and newborns, update immigration documents and more.

SKTT Requirements

  • Valid KITAS

  • Police Report

  • Digital Portrait Photos

  • Blood Type

  • Marital Status

  • Domicile Letter

  • Religion

If you need help securing your SKTT, please get in touch and let us assist you with the process. Our team will work directly with the National Population and Civil Registration Agency to help you obtain your SKTT in as little to 3-5 days.

We'll ensure you submit the proper documentation and correspond with officials on your behalf to push the process forward efficiently. We look forward to helping you secure your official Indonesian residency ID, so you can feel more at home here.

Domicile Letter

If you are an expat in Bali, there are many times when you need a domicile letter in order to access some critical services, such as obtaining your SKTT, registering major life events like marriages and children, changing immigration permits and updating government records.

The domicile letter issued by your local administrative village (known as a banjar) can be used to confirm your temporary residential address.

Requirements

  • A copy of your passport

  • Valid visa

  • Full current residential address

Other Information

Our dedicated team streamlines the entire process for you and will contact your banjar leader directly to verify your address, making sure you don’t have to deal with slow handling times or language barriers. We ensure fast and hassle-free approval, so within 3 business days, you’ll have your document ready. Let Bali Solve handle your administrative tasks for you quickly and efficiently, by contacting us by phone/Whatsapp or dropping by our office in Pererenan.

Address Change

As a KITAS/ITAS holder, you must keep immigration authorities informed of your current residential address at all times. Even a minor move within your banjar (village) requires formally updating your visa documents.

Failing to update your KITAS with new address details can lead to fines or issues during random immigration checks, which of course don’t happen that often, but it’s always good to be on the safe side. Additionally, keeping your address updated ensures you always receive important notifications.

Requirements

  • Domicile Letter

  • E-ITAS

  • Physical Passport

  • Marriage Certificate/Birth Certificate (For Family Union Kitas)

  • IMTA, RPTKA, Proof Payment IMTA (For Working Kitas)

  • Company Head Letter

  • Company Wet stamp

  • Photo/scan of Director’s ID Card if Director is Indonesian

  • Photo/scan of Director’s Passport and E ITAS if Director is a foreigner.

Our team handles everything from paperwork to communications with the immigration offices. We know how to expertly navigate the bureaucratic systems in Indonesia to guarantee quick processing and approval.

Your KITAS will be updated within 5 business days for local address changes, or 10 days when moving between regions. If you’d like to make the process of updating your official Indonesian residence address quick and efficient, don’t hesitate to give us a call so that we can help you.

Passport Mutation

If you hold a current Indonesian visa such as KITAS or multiple-entry Visit Visas, and receive a new passport, you must formally transfer the visa by processing “passport mutation.” This updates your documents by linking the existing visa to your new passport number.

Failing to tie your visa to a renewed passport can cause immigration troubles on departure. As soon as you arrive back in Indonesia with a new passport but unchanged visa, contact us immediately so that you can avoid any issues whenever you depart.

Requirements

  • Both old and new passports

  • A valid KITAS card or visa

  • Associated marriage/birth certificates (For Family Union KITAS)

  • IMTA, RPTKA, Proof of Payment IMTA (For Working KITAS)

  • Company Head Letter

  • Company Wet Stamp

  • Photo/scan of Director’s ID Card if the Director is Indonesian

  • Photo/scan of Director’s Passport and E ITAS if the Director is a foreigner

Other Information

It’s important to note that you should retain old passports, even if they are in bad condition, as they will be required to do the passport mutation. Our team at Bali Solve will submit all the paperwork including both current and previous passports along with supporting documents to the immigration office. With our expertise, we can ensure quick processing and approval, meaning that within 5 days, your visa will be formally transferred and associated with your new passport number.

Trust our specialists to smoothly handle your passport mutation for you, so you can have peace of mind during your trip and when leaving Indonesia. Get in touch with us via phone or feel free to drop by our office in Pererenan so that we can help you get it sorted quickly and efficiently.

Birth Registration

The birth of your child is an exciting new chapter. However, if you are far from home, ensuring proper registration in a foreign country can be a pressing administrative task. You can rely on our team to guide you through the steps involved, so that all you need to worry about is taking care of yourself and your new baby.

To meet Indonesian regulations, new parents must formally register any foreign-origin infant and secure a proper visa within strict 60-day windows. Without expertise navigating the intricate requirements, delays or issues can arise quickly. We would like to kindly note that proactive planning before the baby's arrival is crucial to avoid complications down the line.

The steps for birth registration in Indonesia are as follows:

  • Firstly, we need to submit the following documents to obtain a birth certificate:

    Original birth letter from hospital

    Baby photo meeting strict criteria

Nationality certificate from embassy if dual citizens

    Parents’ passport copies

    Notarized translated marriage certificate

Valid KITAS copies with matching addresses

    Parents’ SKTT numbers

Usually, processing takes 3-5 business days. We interface with the Civil Registry Office to guarantee efficient approval.

  • With a birth certificate secured, you can independently connect with your nearest embassy to prioritize passport approval. Requirements and timelines vary greatly between countries, therefore we recommend establishing contact with a responsible embassy early-on.

  • After the baby's passport gets successfully issued, we will need to obtain a ‘Baby Birth Report,’ which is a mandatory report from Immigration that allows you to apply for an Indonesian visa on behalf of your newborn.

  • The final step grants the baby legal residency status matching the mother’s visa. This means that the baby will obtain a ‘Dependent KITAS’ if the mother has a KITAS/ITAS. We submit the paperwork and liaise with Immigration for you. The whole process takes approximately one month.

Navigating the process can pose some challenges for unmarried partners, as children of unwed parents solely inherit their mother’s citizenship. Without marriage, fathers remain unrecognized in documentation.

We strongly recommend researching requirements before giving birth in Indonesia as a foreign national so that you feel prepared and can make informed decisions about the nationality of your baby. Ideally, parents will hold valid KITAS status well in advance, otherwise birth registration will be near impossible due to processing times for each step of the registration and KITAS submission. As such, it’s important to reiterate that there are some circumstances that require pre-planning.

Driving Licenses

Anyone who lives in Bali long enough will know the freedom and beauty of having your own transportation. However, national licenses from abroad are not recognized, which means when driving in Indonesia, you will need an Indonesian driving license instead. This permit is also known as an Indonesian Surat Izin Mengemudi (SIM) card.

There are four common classes of Indonesian licenses:

SIM A - Private vehicles under 3,500kg
SIM B1 - Vehicles over 3,500kg
SIM B2 - Heavy vehicles + trailers
SIM C - Motorcycles

For foreigners, we can only apply for SIM A or SIM C.

Requirements

  • Original valid passport + photocopy

  • Copy of your E-visa

  • Blood type specification

  • Residential address in Indonesia

  • Full legal names of both parents

We collect the materials then coordinate with transportation authorities on your behalf. If you would like to get your license, contact our friendly team so we can help continue exploring Bali safely.

BPJS Registration

If you are a foreigner who has been residing in Indonesia for over 6 months, you must enroll in the government health insurance program known as BPJS Health Security. This program grants access to approved medical providers for essential care like hospital and specialist treatment, medications, diagnostics, maternity services and more.

Additionally, employers hiring workers must register personnel for BPJS Work Social Security. This covers income loss from injuries, retirement or death through pensions, disability/illness allowances, worker accident compensation, as well as survivor benefits for families.

Required documents for registering as a resident:

  • Passport

  • KITAS card

  • Bank account info

  • Marriage and children’s documents if applicable
